What Can Be Sold?

We accept a wide variety of items, from cameras and collectibles to purses and musical instruments. Items must be legal to sell on eBay, be shippable by UPS or USPS, and have an eBay value of more than $60.00.

What if the item does not sell?

If an item doesn’t sell, a minimum fee of $9.95 for a basic auction or $19.95, plus 2% of the reserve price, for a premium auction will be due payable to PieceByePiece. This fee is due prior to the return of the unsuccessful auction item.

Why do you recommend that auctions start at $9.95 versus a stated minimum amount?

The items that we accept generally sell very well on eBay. In our experience, selecting a $9.95 starting price generates more excitement, which increases the number of bidders. The more bidders there are in an auction, the higher the final auction price.

Although we will strive for the highest sale price, PieceByePiece is legally required to accept the highest bid an item receives; we cannot return it to you if it sells for less than you think it’s worth.

What if an item sells below the estimated value?

On occasion, items will not perform to expectations, and eBay and PieceByePiece cannot guarantee any item’s performance. Our goal at PieceByePiece is total customer satisfaction and it’s in our best interest to get the highest price possible for your items. It puts more money in your pocket and in ours.

Why does PieceByePiece accept some items and not others?

Due to third part relationships, eBay regulations and our own sensibilities, PieceByePiece will not sell sexually explicit material, weapons, counterfeit goods, items deemed to be hazardous, or any other items outlined in eBay’s prohibited items list. It’s also noteworthy that even though you can find just about anything on eBay, not everything on eBay sells for high prices. PieceByePiece has worked hard to identify items that will yield healthy returns for our customers. Additionally, given handling costs implicit in most eBay transactions, PieceByePiece has focused on accepting and selling items that can be transported relatively inexpensively and safely.

When can I expect my check?

Customers will be sent a check 45 days after payment is received from the successful bidder. Your check will be for the final auction amount minus our commission fee.

How long does it take?

The eBay auction usually runs for seven days. Customers will be sent a check 45 days after PieceByePiece receives payment from the successful bidder. Occasionally a winning bidder may never pay for your item. In this case, we will cancel the original auction and relist your item at no additional cost.
